The addon is currently being rewritten from scratch, both to improve performances and allow more features to get in. The end goal is to provide an addon that can display your buffs in any way you want with complete freedom on customization to decide where each buff should appear (even in multiple places or not at all) and how the buff should look (form, size, colors)
It's quite a long process, the buff display part is more or less complete at the moment and I "just" have the UI left to create (which is probably the longest part to get it done right)
Buff Bars in action
A few videos of kills made by players using the buff bars, if you made a nice one, feel free to send me a link to add it here
Quick How-To
- Left-click and drag'n'drop the addon's icon at the desired location
- Right-click it to open settings (or type /ebb in chat)
- Configure what buffs (or debuffs) you want to track on yourself and your offensive/defensive target
- While settings window is open, drag the dummy bars around to set where real buffs should be displayed (and use mouse wheel to change the size of the buff bars)
- Profit!
Advanced Users
You can change the color of buff bars by adding an hexadecimal color code after the buff name. Example: if you want Breaching Shot's buff bar to appear in pink, instead of entering "Breaching Shot" in the buff list, enter "Breaching Shot#E81067" instead.
Known Issues
Let me know about any bug with 1.2 version
Installation Instructions
- Unzip the EthBuffBars folder into ...\The Secret World\Data\Gui\Customized\Flash\
- Unzip the Script\ebb file into ...\The Secret World\Scripts\ (Create that folder if it's missing) if you want to be able to use command line
- Restart the game
You should have those files installed in your game directory
- ...\The Secret World\Data\Gui\Customized\Flash\EthBuffBars\CharPrefs.xml
- ...\The Secret World\Data\Gui\Customized\Flash\EthBuffBars\Modules.xml
- ...\The Secret World\Data\Gui\Customized\Flash\EthBuffBars\EthBuffBars.swf
- ...\The Secret World\Scripts\ebb (optional)
Uninstallation Instructions
- Delete the ...\The Secret World\Data\Gui\Customized\Flash\EthBuffBars\ folder
- Delete the ...\The Secret World\Script\ebb file
- Restart the game
Find more of my TSW mods on Seekrit.info, that has a few nifty tools for the game: an item/mission/... database, a tool to calculate glyph stats and more to come.

Is the click-through issue still slated to be fixed? I love the concept of this addon, and it would be very helpful for healing, but the mouse blocking is a killer for me. I need this right in the horizontal center of the screen, just below vertical center. I also need to be able to click there to move the camera or my avatar, and it's distracting to have to navigate around the bars.
Also, is there a means of identifying something as a debuff, and giving it a different position? Or is that future work too?
Thanks again for your work.

pytawidmo Aug 22, 2012 at 02:44 UTC - 0 likesGot a little problem using Viper's Topbar Information Overload and your addon - often the settings are not shown properly (although closing and opening window fixes it for some time) but whats more important when i try edit the list (clicking with mouse) all buff names dissapears and the "Make buff bars stack from bottom to top" feature is not working at all, no matter what i do.
I think ill just return to using older version of Topbar Info...
EDIT: Fixed after fully reinstalling both addons (i deleted all files and installed newest version of both EBB and VTbIO
But i noticed another problem: when i changed color of Buffs on Offensive Target and opened the options window again the buff name changed form "Anima Depletion#FF0000" to "Anima Depletion#undefined". The same thing happend with other colors and other buffs/debuffs i tried. No such problem with self/defensive buffs.

I'll try to get that fixed in next version, I think I know what went wrong.

We seem to have lost click-through on the bars (at least I thought it was that way in 1.0). If I'm trying to click target someone or turn with my mouse, and accidentally click on the bars, the bars consume the click instead and nothing happens. Having the bars ignore clicking altogether (when not in layout mode) would greatly increase the usability in combat.

Kesitah Jul 28, 2012 at 11:52 UTC - 0 likesIt would be great if you could add a possibility to display the amount of stacks of a buff, and that you can specify a minimum stack amount for a buff to be displayed (for me most Buffs I would like to track seem to be stacked ones).
(like only display it if it has 7 stacks or more). Thanks for the great addon already!

EthanolRift Jul 25, 2012 at 21:23 UTC - 0 likesCertainly plenty more to come in, kinda rushed the coding on that mod, I really wanted it finished to track down a debuff on end boss in Hell Raised.

devla Jul 25, 2012 at 15:57 UTC - 0 likesGreat mod!
Really handy for dungeons and being able to see specific group buffs, and purges as well.
Here's a few of the player ability buffs that I've added:
